This is you if

  • Cold hands and feet, even in summer, even in bed
  • You wear more layers than everyone around you
  • Cold drinks or ice cream cause immediate cramping or urgency
  • Early morning loose stools, sometimes with undigested food
  • Low back and knees feel weak or cold
  • Frequent, clear, pale urination, often at night
  • Low drive, physically and otherwise

What is happening

The metabolic fire that warms and drives your whole system has dimmed. Warmth is not a comfort preference for you, it is a therapeutic input. Every cold thing you consume is a withdrawal from an already low account. 🕯️

Your five rules

  1. Nothing cold. Nothing raw. Nothing from the fridge. This one is non-negotiable.
  2. Warming spices daily. Ginger, cinnamon, fennel, clove, black pepper.
  3. Cook longer. Slow braises, stews, bone broths. Long cooking pre-warms the food.
  4. Warm breakfast within 90 minutes of waking.
  5. Keep your low back and feet warm. Physically. Socks and a warm layer over the kidneys.

Eat more 🍚

Lamb, chicken, bone marrow broth, walnut, chestnut, black bean, black sesame, dried ginger, cinnamon bark, clove, fenugreek, fennel, roasted roots, sweet rice, leek, quinoa, warming stews.

Eat less 🚫

Raw salad, cucumber, watermelon, banana, ice cream, iced water, chilled beer, cold dairy, excessive raw fruit, cold sparkling water.

🔪 The habit that matters more than the food

Drink warm water throughout the day rather than cold. It sounds trivial. For your type it is the highest return change available, and it costs nothing.

⚠️ The mistake your type makes

Cold water fasting, ice baths, cold plunges, and raw food cleanses. These are marketed as vitality practices and for your constitution they are a direct withdrawal from the account you most need to rebuild.

Your first week

Days 1 to 7: everything you drink is warm or hot. Add fresh ginger to at least one meal daily. Notice your hands and feet by day five.
